Rethinking Bon Pastor. Weaving urban stories of Barcelona from the threshold of the Casas Baratas

Hello! We are happy to make an announcement that fills us with happiness. We are finally able to share with you the book in which we collected all the history of the process of Repensar Bonpastor, the international competition of ideas you joined some years ago.

Repensar Bonpastor.  Tejiendo historias urbanas de Barcelona desde el umbral de las Casas Baratas  is the collective testimony of an urban transformation, and of its impact over a community. We published this book as a form of giving our thanks to the neighbors of Bon Pastor, and to all the people that took part in the process of the Competition, for all the things they taught us during all these years.

It is a book that does not fit into the usual labels. It is not an academic work, even if many experts and professionals of many disciplines put their work in it. It is not an essay, but a polyhedric analysis, an itinerary that leads - step-by-step, without shortcuts - right into the core of a social conflict, without avoiding our own self-consciousness. For, more than else, this is the memory of a lived experience, explained in the first person, both singular and plural.

This patchwork of texts does not aim to completeness, but to evocate the complexity of a long-term situation, observed from many different points of view, in search of new tools, new ideas, new proposals to build the city. A city that gives importance to the social contexts and life-histories of its inhabitants, that does not put its origins into a museum, and that takes into account the needs and desires of the people that live and dwell in its streets. A Barcelona that includes, that builds and manages its resources to re-think its future. A future without arbitrary demolitions or pre-designed urban renewal plans; for the city should be built in the streets, under the shade, during a meeting among neighbors, or in a night of fiesta  in Sant Joan.

So, on the occasion of the World Book Day, this April 23rd we officially launch our book in its digital version, available to download in pdf, share and disseminate. This is the link:
