Lanciamo l'appello ad organizzare le Giornate Mondiali Sfratti Zero 2008 per tutto il mese di ottobre 2008, concreto seguito della Campagna Globale 2007-2008: Lottiamo insieme per la casa per tutti! e come esercizio preparatorio unitario dell'Assemblea Mondiale degli Abitanti.

COMUNICATO STAMPA: Città armoniose per davvero: liberiamole del neoliberismo!
In occasione della Giornata Mondiale dell'Habitat, celebrata da UN-Habitat il 6 ottobre 2008 con lo slogan "Città armoniose", l'Alleanza Internazionale degli Abitanti, rete globale per il diritto all'alloggio senza frontiere, ha diffuso un comunicato molto critico che propone un nuovo Patto Sociale Urbano sostenuto dalle Giornate Mondiali Sfratti Zero.
Sulla giornata di mobilitazione sociale in Russia
Sabato 25 ottobre 2008 si sono svolte in più di 32 città russe delle azioni di protesta nell’ambito della « Giornata della rabbia sociale ». Questa giornata, in preparazione da mesi da un’ampia rete di movimenti sociali di diverse regioni, ha segnato l’entrata delle mobilitazioni sociali di base sulla scena pubblica russa. Per la prima volta i media russi hanno dato ampia copertura di questi avvenimenti e messo in rilievo la nascita di un fenomeno, finora non identificato: persone che sono né ‘sbirri’ assoldati dal Cremlino, né apparatcik del partito, ma “persone qualunque” che hanno manifestato insieme lo stesso giorno con le stesse rivendicazioni e brandendo lo stesso slogan: “il potere in mano ai cittadini!”.

La convinzione che il mercato possa provvedere a un’adeguata sistemazione abitativa per tutti è crollata.
La crisi attuale ci ricorda inesorabilmente questa realtà. La casa non è una merce, quattro muri e un tetto. È un luogo in cui vivere sicuri, con dignità e pace, ed è un diritto per ogni essere umano.
UN's Habitat Engages with Angola Despite Evictions, UNICEF Irregularities and in Nairobi

UNITED NATIONS, October 27 -- Criticized for holding its World Habitat Day celebration this month in Angola, widely known for mass evictions, the UN housing agency responded by calling the site selection a case of "constructive engagement." Inner City Press had asked about the criticism back on October 6, but was told by the UN Spokesperson that HABITAT director Anna Tibaijuka stood with Angola and had no comment on eviction.

Più di 80 iniziative, decine di migliaia di partecipanti in tutto il mondo
Le Giornate Mondiali Sfratti Zero 2008, durante le quali decine di migliaia di persone hanno preso parte a più di 80 iniziative, sono riuscite a rafforzare la coscienza di essere protagonisti di una lotta comune per fare fronte in maniera solidale ai disastrosi effetti che il neoliberismo ha sulle città e sui suoi abitanti, sia dal punto di vista delle resistenze, sia per quanto riguarda la proposta di alternative.
Seguendo un filo conduttore comune, gli abitanti stanno preparando la loro partecipazione al FSM di Belém.

Il y a deux ans, nous occupions le bâtiment situé au 103 boulevard de Waterloo. Depuis notre expulsion, ce bâtiment est toujours vide alors que la crise du logement et la crise économique ne font que s'accentuer.
Le gouvernement belge, par l'intermédiaire de son Ministre des Finances Didier Reynders, débloque 16 milliards d'Euros pour sauver les banques et leurs actionnaires. Mais rien pour augmenter les salaires ou les allocations sociales, rien pour le logement à l'heure où des milliers d'immeubles vides
sont à l'abandon. Pendant ce temps, Monsieur Reynders, ministre de tutelle de la « Régie des bâtiments », ne daigne même pas recevoir des représentants de locataires, malgré de nombreuses demandes de le rencontrer, afin d'occuper des logements vides de la Régie.
Arrêtons de nous indigner de l'attitude des politiciens !!!

The people who were living in the Porur lake area were forcefully evicted without any prior notification or announcement from 23 to 25 of Nov’06. Though the Government has provided rehabilitation and replacement area in Nallur and Kudapakkam villages in Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts respectively, still the replacement places lack basic facilities for life such as electricity, road, transportation, free water distribution, school, proper sanitation facilities , burial ground etc. the displacement area is not safe enough for human living. The main disadvantage about the displacement area is that it is 28 km far away from city and most of the people were dependent on urban employment.

Istanbul which is the most crowded city of Turkey has very crowded slums. After the immigration starting from villages to the cities since 1950s, slums which cluster around of industrial basins occurred. These slums increasing covered the considerable part of the city. Once there was neither any transportation nor infrastructure, working people constructed all these slums by themselves. However, these slums are considered as an annuity zone under the international urban transportation project and are wanted to destroy. The Government and local authorities wanted to destroy these houses many times under police and gendarme. Slum people resist to the end and defense their housing rights. BEKSAV Cinema Workshop has recorded destruction events experienced in these slums and resistance against these destructions for long years. And it talked one to one and interviewed with many people living there. This film is a short document of the slum reality.
